Jincheng grew out of a state machinery works established in Nanjing in 1949 and became one of China's largest motorcycle producers after beginning licensed production of Suzuki-derived designs in the 1980s. A later joint venture deepened the company's engine expertise, and in the 2000s Jincheng exported motorcycles and small ATVs under its own name to Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Jincheng ATVs follow the utility pattern: robust steel chassis, single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke engines, automatic or semi-automatic transmission, and uncomplicated electrics. They were positioned as affordable working machines and entry-level quads, and their conventional engineering means most service work sits well within the reach of a careful owner with hand tools.
