Rupp was an Ohio company known for go-karts and minibikes that also built a respected line of snowmobiles in the 1960s and 1970s. This page offers downloadable Rupp repair, service, and workshop manuals for owners and restorers of Rupp machines.
Rupp Industries was founded by Mickey Rupp in Mansfield, Ohio, in the late 1950s. Rupp began by assembling go-karts in his basement in 1959 and became a significant name in karting, later adding minibikes in 1962 and snowmobiles as the snowmobile market took off in the mid-1960s. Mickey Rupp was also a race driver who competed in the Indianapolis 500, and his enthusiasm for performance carried into the company's products.
Rupp machines were known for bright red paint and a focus on performance, and the company sold large numbers of minibikes and snowmobiles through the early 1970s. Mickey Rupp sold the business in 1973, and the company continued for several years before closing in 1978. Today Rupp go-karts, minibikes, and snowmobiles are highly collectible, with an active following of owners and restorers. At its peak in the early 1970s the company employed about four hundred people in Mansfield.
Rupp workshop manuals document the engines, drive clutches and chains, suspensions, steering, and electrical components used on Rupp snowmobiles, along with the small-displacement two-stroke powerplants of the era. They include step-by-step repair procedures, torque specifications, wiring diagrams, and maintenance guidance. The machines of the period used dependable two-stroke engines and simple, serviceable chassis designs that responded well to home workshop care.
Restorers and do-it-yourself owners will find these manuals valuable for keeping vintage Rupp sleds original and running, and independent shops servicing collectible machines can also use them. Original factory literature for Rupp is scarce today, which makes these manuals a genuine aid to correct restoration.
