Volkswagen was founded in 1937 to build an affordable people's car, and the Beetle that resulted became one of the best-selling designs in history, produced until 2003. The Type 2 Transporter van followed in 1950, beginning a commercial vehicle line that has run through seven generations to today's T7 Multivan, built by the dedicated Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles division in Hannover.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is known for the Transporter, Caravelle and California camper family, the compact Caddy panel van, the larger Crafter and the Amarok pickup. These vehicles are prized by tradespeople, delivery fleets and campervan converters for their practicality and strong resale value, and turbo-diesel TDI engines remain a hallmark of the range. The Amarok, introduced in 2010, brought Volkswagen into the pickup market.

Volkswagen service manuals cover petrol and TDI diesel engines, manual and DSG transmissions, 4Motion four-wheel-drive systems, suspension and steering, brakes with ABS and stability control, air conditioning and complete wiring diagrams. Diagnostic procedures, torque specifications and service schedules are included for each model and year.
