Jeep traces its roots to the WWII-era Willys MB and Ford GPW military 4x4 vehicles of 1941, followed by the civilian CJ line beginning with the CJ-2A in 1945. Ownership passed from Willys-Overland to Kaiser in 1953, then American Motors in 1970, and Chrysler in 1987; the brand is today part of Stellantis.
