Scorpion snowmobiles came from a Minnesota company that started life as Trail-A-Sled and operated in Crosby, a small town that became one of the centers of the snowmobile industry. The company built machines through the boom years of the 1960s and into the early 1980s, when the industry downturn put an end to many independent sled makers. Like many independent makers of the period, the firm grew quickly during the boom years and struggled when the market contracted in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Scorpion was known for solid, affordable snowmobiles that sold well in the American Midwest, and the brand name itself was a marketing success during a period crowded with new manufacturers. Scorpion machines were also rebadged for department-store catalogs; the 1967 Sears winter catalog, for example, offered a Scorpion built by Trail-A-Sled under the Sears name. Today the brand is gone, and surviving Scorpion sleds are collector machines.

Workshop manuals for Scorpion snowmobiles document the engines, drive clutches and chaincases, suspensions, steering, and electrical systems used across the model range. They include step-by-step repair procedures, torque specifications, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting guidance.

Restorers and do-it-yourself owners of these vintage sleds will find the manuals helpful, since factory service literature for long-defunct brands is otherwise hard to come by.
