JCB, formally J.C. Bamford Excavators, was founded in England in 1945 by Joseph Cyril Bamford, starting out in Uttoxeter before the company established its headquarters at Rocester, Staffordshire. JCB grew into one of Britain's best-known makers of construction equipment.
JCB is recognized as the pioneer of the backhoe loader, dating back to its early 3C-era machines, and it also builds Loadall telescopic handlers, the Teletruk forklift, and both tracked and wheeled excavators. The company manufactures its own Dieselmax and EcoMax 4.4L diesel engines, designed to meet Tier 4 emissions standards without relying on a diesel particulate filter.
