Komatsu, Japan's construction and mining equipment giant founded in 1921, designs and builds many of the diesel engines used in its own machines. This page offers workshop, service and repair manuals for Komatsu engines fitted to excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders and haul trucks.
Komatsu Ltd. was founded in 1921 in the city of Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, where the company's name and main plants still originate. Growing from mining machinery into construction equipment, Komatsu became one of the world's two largest makers of earthmoving machines, with a reputation for quality manufacturing and in-house component production.
Komatsu is known for heavy-duty engineering across bulldozers, hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders and rigid dump trucks, and for building its own diesel engines rather than relying entirely on outside suppliers. Its engines are respected for durability in construction, mining, quarrying and forestry, where machines run long hours in severe conditions. Beyond machine engines, Komatsu power units are also applied in generators and industrial installations, extending the value of its service documentation well beyond the yellow iron on construction sites.
