Carburetor Fouling:
Stale fuel and ethanol blends leave deposits; clean the carburetor if idle quality drops
Corrosion:
Saltwater use attacks anodes, fasteners and the gearcase if not rinsed
Recoil Starter:
Rope, spring and pawl wear can cause weak or failed recoil engagement
Fuel System:
Old fuel lines and gaskets harden, causing air leaks and lean running

Failing seals allow water into the gear oil; inspect for milky oil at each change
