Bedford was the commercial vehicle arm of Vauxhall Motors, established in Luton, England, in 1930 under General Motors ownership to build trucks and vans for the British market. Bedford-badged production continued into the 1980s, and the name finally faded after GM sold its British truck operations. During the Second World War the Luton works also produced military trucks for the British war effort.

Bedford became a fixture of British trades and fleets. The CA van served post-war Britain, the forward-control CF, launched in 1969, was Bedford's answer to the Ford Transit, and the TK and KM trucks carried freight for decades. Bedford also built buses and military vehicles in large numbers. Police, utility and ambulance operators ran Bedfords in large numbers too.
