Lawn-Boy began in 1934 when the Evinrude company introduced a power mower under the name, later joining Outboard Marine Corporation and, from 1952, building rotary mowers as part of the Lawn-Boy line. The brand was acquired by Toro in 1989 and continues as a distinct name in walk-behind mowers. Because Lawn-Boy built engines as well as mowers, its history connects two well-known names in American outdoor power equipment.

Lawn-Boy is remembered for lightweight aluminum-deck mowers and for developing its own engines. In 1970 the company introduced a two-stroke engine that offered more power with less weight, and the D-400 engine became a favorite of the trade. Later four-stroke models extended the brand into the modern era while keeping its reputation for easy, dependable mowing.

The manuals on this page cover Lawn-Boy engines and machines in factory detail, including engine disassembly and overhaul, piston and cylinder service, carburetor and fuel system work, ignition, starting systems, blade and drive mechanisms, torque specifications and troubleshooting guidance, together with scheduled maintenance procedures. Two-stroke owners will find the fuel, carburetor and ignition details needed to keep older models starting first pull.

These documents serve homeowners, professional lawn-care operators, small-engine repair shops and collectors restoring vintage Lawn-Boys. With the correct factory information, even decades-old mowers can be brought back to reliable working condition. Correct documentation matters because Lawn-Boy engines changed design over the years, and year-specific data avoids costly mistakes.
