Doosan's roots reach back to 1896, when Park Seung-jik opened what is regarded as Korea's first modern retail business. The group's heavy equipment came later, through Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery, which was renamed Doosan Infracore in 2005; its construction machinery division trades today as Develon.
