The British Motor Corporation was formed in 1952 when the Austin Motor Company merged with the Nuffield Organization, which owned Morris and several other marques. Headquartered in Birmingham, England, BMC combined two of Britain's biggest car makers into a single group and produced millions of vehicles before evolving first into British Motor Holdings and then into British Leyland in the late 1960s.
