The Degtyarev plant at Kovrov, northeast of Moscow, had produced weapons since before the Soviet era and added motorcycles to its lines after World War II. From 1957 the Voshod name identified a family of 175 cc single-cylinder two-strokes that served Soviet riders for decades as everyday transport and rural workhorses.

Voshod motorcycles were deliberately simple machines: air-cooled two-stroke engines, four-speed gearboxes, rugged frames and minimal electrics. They coped with poor roads and harsh winters across the Soviet Union, and survivors are now collectible among enthusiasts of Eastern Bloc vehicles, with active clubs restoring and riding them and specialist suppliers providing pattern parts.

Voshod manuals cover top-end and bottom-end engine work, piston and ring specification, carburetor settings, contact-breaker ignition timing, clutch and gearbox service, plus brakes, forks and basic wiring diagrams. Torque values and clearances follow original factory documentation, much of it now translated for Western workshops, and fuel system, wheel and control service complete the documented work.

Restoring a Soviet-era motorcycle brings challenges that accurate data solves: parts interchange is confusing, previous repairs were often improvised, and wear is usually severe. Restorers, collectors and riders preparing machines for historic events rely on these manuals to rebuild engines and electrics to correct specification rather than approximate settings. Written procedures also record the assembly sequences that Soviet manuals specified for military-standard durability.
